Best Sexual Positions for Conceiving
There are certain sexual positions you can try to help you conceive faster. These positions generally make it easier for the sperm to travel through the cervix and uterus to reach and fertilize the egg in the fallopian tube, although it's possible to get pregnant from any type of vagina/penis sexual intercourse. Here's a look at the best baby-making sexual positions. Before trying any of them, keep in mind to never force yourself to do any position that makes you uncomfortable. And have fun. Sex can quickly become a stressful chore if it's just done for the sole purpose of trying to get pregnant.
Hands and Knees
With this position the woman is on her hands and knees with her partner kneeling behind her. It's sometimes called the doggie position because it's similar to the position dogs use when mating. The hands and knees position allows for deep penetration which brings the sperm closer to the cervix opening when the man ejaculates. The theory behind why this position works is that since the sperm is released closer to the cervix, it won't need to travel as far to reach the egg. Even deeper penetration can be reached if the woman lowers her head and raises her rear. A pillow may be needed under the knees of both partners for this to work. Pregnancy myth says that this position will help you conceive a boy because it gives the slower moving male chromosome sperm a chance to reach the egg before the faster moving female chromosome-carrying sperm.
Spooning and Side-Laying
This position involves the couple laying together like spoons facing in the same direction. The man enters from behind which allows plenty of sperm to get near the cervix. Spooning is also a good sex position during the later stages of pregnancy when the belly becomes big enough to get in the way of other positions. Side-laying involves the couple lying on their sides facing each other. The man enters from the front.
Missionary Position
This traditional position is thought, by some experts, to be the best baby-making sexual position. It allows for the deepest penetration which means the sperm-containing semen reaches the cervix easily. Since the woman is lying on her back, it's also thought that the sperm can remain there longer before spilling out since their not fighting against gravity. With the missionary position the man is on top while the woman is lying on her back. The woman can pull her knees towards her chest to increase the depth of penetration.
