Increase Sperm Count

The more viable sperm a man has, the greater chance he and his partner will conceive. There are ways to naturally increase the number of sperm per ejaculation to help a woman get pregnant faster. These ways only work if there's no underlying medical condition causing infertility of sub-fertility. A medical condition like the chromosomal disorder Klinefelter's Syndrome will require alternative treatments like harvesting sperm for assisted reproductive technology (ART).

What Are Healthy Sperm Counts?

Sperm leaves a man's body through semen. Semen is a liquid made from secretions of the testicles and epididymes, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, and the bulbourethra and urethral glands. It forms a jelly-like sticky substance almost immediately after ejaculation. The substance returns to liquid again in five to 40 minutes which is a normal process. Lack of semen clotting and liquefaction can cause male fertility problems.

The average amount of semen released in a single ejaculation is two to five milliliters. Frequent ejaculation or lack of ejaculation over an extended period of time can affect semen volume.

According to the World Health Organization, the concentration of sperm in this amount of semen should be at least 20 million per milliliter to be considered normal. Of this amount of sperm at least 75 percent should be alive, a minimum of 30 percent should be in healthy form and shape, and at least 25 percent should be swimming rapidly forward. At least 50 percent in total should be swimming forward even if they're only moving sluggishly.

Diet and Lifestyle

A healthy body means there's a greater chance of it creating right amount of healthy sperm. Making sure your body produces enough sperm begins with your diet. Avoid fast food and make sure you eat plenty of vitamin rich foods. Natural foods, the kinds without chemical additives, are also a good choice. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and reduce caffeine and alcohol intake which can harm sperm production. Don't expect diet changes to instantly change the amount and quality of your sperm. It may take a few months for your body to overall feel the effects of a good diet and nutrition. Emotional stress can also cause low sperm counts so try to reduce mental stress or find healthy alternative ways to deal with it like therapy.

Exercise will help your overall health. Try Kegel exercises. Although these pelvic exercises are typically done by women to increase the strength of their vaginal muscles, Kegel exercises can also be done by men. Some studies indicate that Kegel exercises for men can help a man ejaculate farther.

Avoid heating the testicles which can reduce the number of sperm produced. Stay away from saunas and hot baths. Try wearing boxers instead of briefs.
