As pregnancy advances, most women have pain in their back, feet, and legs.\r\nMany people believe that supportive shoes and massage are all one can do for this very common affliction. \r\n \r\nDr.Ron Worley, a San Diego podiatrist, says that while symptomatic care can provide some relief, the cause of many postural pains is an imbalance in your feet. This imbalance is worsened by hormones released in pregnancy which relax ligaments to aid the birthing process. Foot ligaments are relaxed as well and this causes feet to spread and flatten and usually leads strain and pain in your feet, legs, neck, and back. \r\n\r\nPage 3 & 4 inside and back page.\r\n\r\nTo treat this foot imbalance, Dr.Worley prescribes custom made supports (orthotics) which are made from measurements and molds he takes of your feet while held in the corrected position. These pregnancy orthotics are worn inside the shoes and they gently hold your feet in a corrected position, improve posture, and decrease strain on the painful areas. Most patients experience profound relief. And the treatment doesn’t hurt you!\r\n\r\nOur orthotics are safe, non-invasive, & cost-effective. They are very durable. (lasting 5-10 years is common.) You will want to wear them beyond pregnancy to prevent need for surgery. Most PPO insurance will cover some portion of the costs. Financial arrangements are available if needed. Caution: cheap non-custom “orthotics” and “computerized orthotics” may hurt your feet and not give you the correction you need. Proper orthotics are custom-made medical devices requiring careful measurements and molds taken of your feet in the correct position.
