my fertility specialist wants me to undergo a laparoscopy. has anyone gone through this?? i really hope that this test can help us get pregnant, but i'm also worried about what it will be like and especially nervous about what they might find and if it can be treated

i had one done about 2months ago. not luck as such yet with conceiving!\r\nmy doctor booked me in for one after i was getting pains in my abdomen and hadnt fallen pregnant after a year of trying. before i went in for the op they gave me an ultrasound and found an 8cm solid cyst. the surgery was straight forward and i was in and out within an hour. my belly button hurt but thats it. nothing too bad. they found endo but no cyst. bizarre! they also flushed out my tubes and removed the endo. but even if they did find something... its better to know and fix it then go through more years of heartache. i have pcos so now starting hormones to speed up my ovulation, so now im clear of everything else its a nice feeling knowing how to treat it. i say go for it. its a huge releif, either way it comes out.

I had a laparoscopy as I kept on having unexplained pelvic pain. The operation in itself is a fairly simple one. The make incisions through your belly putton and roughly at the points of your ovaries at either side. They camera goes through your button and they have a wee look inside. In my case they cut my uterian nerves. It's just day surgery and i was back home in about 5 hours. The like to make sure you've been to the toilet (no1 and no2) and that you've managed to eat and drink something without being sick before letting you home. You're a bit stiff and sore for a few days after but nothing too bad at all. With regards to what they might find, i'm not 100% sure, cysts, fibroids, blockages..things like that. I'm sure your Dr would be more than happy to sit down and talk it through with you more thoroughly if you're worried. Good Luck and baby dust!! :o) *******
