Chronic stress causes infertility - 11/07/2007
Reproductive experts from the Emory University School of Medicine have recently warned women that chronic stress and anxiety may have an impact on fertility. According to the experts, overworking, under eating, over exercising and non-stop pressure could prevent women from ovulating and getting pregnant.
Dr. Sarah Berga who has studied the effect of stress on fertility for several years, said that the hypothalamus, the part of the brain which releases hormones recognizes stress. When this happens, the hypothalamus interrupts the messages sent to your ovaries to release eggs and causes stress-induced infertility.
According to ABC news medical editor, Dr. Tim Johnson, it is important to tone down the hectic and stressful lifestyle if you want to get pregnant. Johnson also stated that you be aware of your body signals and the causes of stress on fertility. Although this research has revealed a connection between stress and women's fertility, there is no direct link between sperm production and men.
