Vitamin B6 May Improve Fertility - 07/16/2007

According to a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, vitamin B6 may help improve fertility and decrease the chances of pregnancy loss among women. Researchers followed 364 women working in the textile industry in China who had an average age of 24.9. The researchers assessed urine samples taken within a 12 month period to evaluate the effects of vitamin B6 levels on female fertility. Women with high vitamin B6 levels appear to increase the odds of conception as well as decrease the likelihood of experiencing pregnancy loss. Women with normal B6 levels (30 nanomoles per one litre) appear to have improved odds of conception by 40% as well as a lowered risk of pregnancy loss by 30% when compared to women with vitamin B6 deficiency.
